All about .pptx

Microsoft Powerpoint is a presentation program created by Robert Gaskins and Dennis Austin. It offers users many ways to display information from simple presentations to complex multimedia presentations. It was designed to provide visuals for group presentations within business organizations or even for entertainment.
    Originally, 'Presenter' was the ideal name of it. It was then rejected upon checking for the trademark because it was used already. It was replaced by Powerpoint in regards with the product's goal: empowering individual presenters.

It can be delivered in such numerous ways:

• Displayed on the screen of the presentation computer or tablet (for a very small group)
  

•    Printed for distribution as paper documents (in several formats)
  

•  Distributed as files for private viewing, even on computers without PowerPoint
  

•   Packaged for distribution on CD or a network, including linked and embedded data
  

•  Transmitted as a live broadcast presentation over the web
  

•   Embedded in a web page or blog
  

•    Shared on social networks such as Facebook or Twitter
  

•    Set up as a self-running unattended display
  

•    Recorded as video/audio (H.264/AAC), to be distributed as for any other video

I've been using MS Powerpoint for long time, I'm just curious what does .pptx means? Thanks!

Me too, btw its extension name changed through the year, why is that?

Its's good that it has the feature that you can make your powerpoint presentation as a video presentation.

PPTX is the default presentation file format for PowerPoint 2007 and newer. It is a combination of XML and ZIP to compress its contents. PPTX files can contain formatted text, objects, multiple slides, images, videos, and more.

What about .ppsx?

Yes, the thing that I am doing on that is I will make the succeeding slides on the left much smaller. Hehe

Convert your ppt to ppsx :
File>Save As> choose Powerpoint Presentation
To save the presentation as a PowerPoint Show file, choose Save As PowerPoint Show

Convert your ppt to ppsx :
      File>Save As> choose Powerpoint Presentation
      To save the presentation as a PowerPoint Show file, choose Save As PowerPoint Show

There's also another way to do a ppsx. Through renaming, you can covert it in a few clicks:
Right click the file > choose Rename
Change the extension name to .pps or .ppsx, depending upon the version of the software you are using, then Enter. It is much lesser in clicks!

When you’ve created a presentation that you share locally, or even publicly on the web, you can take some steps to prevent people from altering your work. Here are some ways that you can protect your PowerPoint presentation.

Mark as final
The first step in protecting a presentation is the “Mark as Final” command. This essentially locks the presentation in place, saying that others can read and view it all they want, but not make alterations to the presentation. To mark a presentation as final, you need to click on the File button and then choose Info. Under the Protect Presentation option, you will see the ability to “Mark as Final” which will put your presentation into this mode.

Encrypt the file with a password
Encrypting your file with a password is a great idea if you’re making a presentation for internal viewing only, as you can use it to ensure that only people with the password can view the PowerPoint file. Click on “Encrypt with Password” and set a password.

Get a digital signature
You can also get a digital signature for your document, which is a security feature that Microsoft recommends in a number of places throughout its office suite. Choose this option, and if you don’t already have a digital signature set up, Microsoft will send you some links where you can follow the prompts to obtain one from one of their partners.

Restrict access
Now, depending on what version of office access you have, you may see some additional options here – notably, restrict access. If you do have that option, you can use it to fine tune the permissions of people that you may have shared the presentation with.

Yes, you can find it on the File Tab (on the back-view) then on the Info Pane, on its right side > Protect Presentation
